So today was my last day of work. The weather held up and I’m quite glad about it. The main event today was going round the office with my mug, pen and muffins. I had people sign the mug for a chocolate muffin! It was quite a sight. After that I went for a coffee with a friend from town and then a group of people went for a noon drink at a pub close by and had noodles and sweet and sour chicken with my office mate for lunch rather than sandwiches. Before leaving work I went round taking a few photos of the place and say my nostalgic goodbye to my lab space and other places I liked. With nothing much to do and not a really good mood, after work I went round town taking a few final photos. After that I was offered an ‘improved’ lasagne (cos I apparently got through with my pointers) and I must admit the effort was impressive and the result was quite nice. After dinner I just spread myself on the carpet and had a good conversation but apparently at some point I dosed off and found myself asleep on the carpet sometime during the night, at which point I just stayed there till morning. So this is my last day over here. I went back to my landlady’s place, had a shower and breakfast and got read yot go to Cambridge where I spent the morning. At noon I had lunch at home and by 3pm I was read packed to go to the train station. The trip back to the airport began with a delay half way to London where I had to catch a later train. Once in London I went to Oxford Street to get 2 t-shirts and then straight to Terminal 4 where I had a bit of hassle about the ticket. With that sorted all I had to do was get to the gate but our plane was delayed by almost 1hr and I just had to walk round aimlessly until I met a British couple with a little girl and had a chat with them till the plane arrived. The plane ride was quite uncomfortable and hot and my ears hurt a lot at the descent but that’s going back to malta for you so what else should I have expected?!! So now it’s past 3am and I’m back at my desk filling in this last entry. Take care and see you soon
